After continued support by UAW CAP and UAW membership, we failed to get the 51 votes necessary to approve the bills. Six (6) of our democratic legislators declared they are “pro” business and would not support the labor bills

Nationally:

 Employee Free Choice Act - ongoing support for this Act

 It does three things to level the playing field for employees and employers:

  • Strengthens penalties for companies that illegally coerce and intimidate employees in an effort to prevent them from forming a union;
  • Brings in a neutral third party to settle a contract when a company and newly certified union cannot agree on a contract after three months;
  • Enables employees to form unions when a majority signs authorization cards.
