M.E.R.T. and Disaster Relief Roles
 
Area CAP Coordinator:
  • Oversees Member Emergency Response program
  • Notifies Regional State CAP & Community Service Representatives
  • Assists in training of Local Liaisons and Coordinators
  • Coordinates additional assistance to disaster, if needed
Local Liaison
  • Liaison between area and local coordinators
  • Identifies members within a disaster area
  • Contacts Local and Area Coordinators to make aware of disaster and member affected
Local Coordinator
  • Coordinates the response team
  • Recruits and assists in training of response team members
  • Identifies team members strengths
  • Assigns team members to action
  • Connects with partner agencies
  • Follows up with affected members
  • Fills out and sends response form to Regional Director
Response Team Members
  • Volunteers
  • Assist partner agencies during a disaster to meet the needs of our members
Response Team Members should have a variety of skills and different resources to draw from.
 
For Example:
  • Who owns a large Miltie-passenger vehicle
  • Who can drive a large truck
  • Who has special skills or equipment
  • Who speaks a foreign language
  • Who can cook on scale
  • Who can sign for the deaf, etc...
