M.E.R.T. and Disaster Relief Roles
Area CAP Coordinator:

Oversees Member Emergency Response program

Notifies Regional State CAP & Community Service Representatives

Assists in training of Local Liaisons and Coordinators
-
Coordinates additional assistance to disaster, if needed
Local Liaison
-
Liaison between area and local coordinators
-
Identifies members within a disaster area
-
Contacts Local and Area Coordinators to make aware of disaster and member affected
Local Coordinator
- Coordinates the response team
- Recruits and assists in training of response team members
- Identifies team members strengths
- Assigns team members to action
- Connects with partner agencies
- Follows up with affected members
- Fills out and sends response form to Regional Director
Response Team Members
Response Team Members should have a variety of skills and different resources to draw from.
For Example:

Who owns a large Miltie-passenger vehicle
-
Who can drive a large truck
-
Who has special skills or equipment
-
Who speaks a foreign language
-
Who can cook on scale
-
Who can sign for the deaf, etc...
