Ron McInroy joined the UAW in 1979 when he was hired at the John Deere Company in Waterloo, IA. He served in many positions in Local 838. He was elected to Steward in 1981, where he remained until 1993 when he was elected Committeeman. In 2000, Ron was elected to the John Deere Sub-Council as Chairman. He served as a member of the Bargaining Committee for the UAW-Deere negotiations in 2003. Ron is a tool grinder by trade and served on the Skilled Trades, Consumer Affairs, and Recreation Committees at Local 838.

In 2005, he went on Temporary Organizing and on April 10, 2005 was appointed to Servicing Representative in Iowa by Director Dennis Williams. His Iowa assignment included his home Local along with Locals 242, 450, 616, 997, 1024, and one unit out of Local 893.

On November 30, 2008, Ron McInroy was appointed to the position of Assistant Director at Region 4 by Director Dennis Williams.

During the 35th UAW Constitutional Convention held in Detroit June 2010, Ron was elected Director of Region 4.

Ron and his wife Amy live in Gurnee IL. They have two adult children, daughter Shannon and son Craig, both reside in Colorado.
